Greater Hannover Transport Corporation GmbH
Website Relaunch for an attractive public transportation system
Six transport companies, one fare, and around 220 million passengers annually. The Greater Hanover Transport Association (GVH) is one of the oldest and at the same time one of the most modern transport associations in Germany. Modern and user-friendly is now also its new website from our company.
Public transport should become even more attractive.
Connected in the GVH, six transport companies ensure an attractive local transport in the Hanover region. The GVH includes ÜSTRA, regiobus, DB Regio, metronom, erixx, and WestfalenBahn. Passengers benefit from a coordinated offer throughout the entire GVH transport area and a uniform fare system across the network. The GVH continuously invests in modern vehicles, sustainable drives, and customer-friendly digital services.
With the website relaunch, the GVH aims to make the use of public transport even more attractive. The new GVH website is intended to provide passengers with an optimal user experience on all devices in the future. Important information about fare products and service topics should be easily accessible with just a few clicks. Current traffic information should be available in real-time and with just one click, and tickets should be conveniently purchasable online. Additionally, the transport association wants to inform its passengers even better about investments in sustainable drives and environmentally friendly mobility.

Our implementation
User-friendliness as a clear goal
We conceptualized, designed, and developed the new digital user experience of the GVH with the clear goal of significantly improving user satisfaction. We created a new content concept with clear user guidance and SEO-friendly content to improve the website's visibility on Google. We prepared the ticket range for the different target groups and linked the digital mobility shop with the new website. A particular technical challenge of the project was to integrate and link all public transport relevant external information services, including connection and stop information, as well as displaying timetables, disruption notices, and route changes. The technical implementation was based on the TYPO3 Content Management System.

The result
Important information delivered quickly
The new GVH website impresses with its distinctive design and clear user guidance. Passengers can find the information they need with just a few clicks. Important ad-hoc notifications such as traffic updates and route information are directly integrated into the header area of the homepage and are immediately available. The design was implemented responsively and in compliance with accessibility standards (BITV 2.0). Text content was optimized for search engines and SEO features were integrated into TYPO3. Tickets and subscriptions can now also be conveniently purchased online. A new addition to the website is the focus on sustainability. The transport companies of GVH highlight their commitment as environmentally friendly mobility service providers. This serves as an incentive for environmentally conscious passengers to use public transport even more in the future.
