Launch of the online printing portal
For our client, printworld.com GmbH, we implemented the online printing portal printworld.com and currently support in the technical development and expansion of the offering in European markets.
The project
By using highly efficient processes and the latest machinery, the company produces large orders and standardized print products much more economically than other service providers. As a result, printworld.com GmbH has successfully established itself in recent years as a successfull online printing company.
In order to further drive success and growth in the future, our mission and goal was to significantly advance our customers on their journey towards digitalization. A multifunctional web-to-print portal was to be established, targeting end customers and efficiently supporting internal work processes digitally. The latter was expected to be the toughest challenge due to the complexity of the workflows that we had to tackle in this project.
Together with a 12-member project team and a clear goal in mind, we successfully implemented the complete package of strategy consulting, digital brand development, design, as well as frontend and backend for printworld.com GmbH on schedule. After about a year, www.printworld.com went online. Since its launch in 2014, we have been continuously implementing further developments for the portal.

The result
Digital printing portal with many facets
Customers who want to order print products online can now find the entire range at printworld.com, attractively presented on a mobile-adaptive interface. Printed materials of all kinds can be conveniently calculated and ordered online in the webshop. Users can log in, place orders, view them, and if necessary, cancel them. With the new, modern webshop, it is possible to increase the user experience and compete with competitors in the digital environment on an equal footing. However, the much greater challenge for us was the implementation of a digital back office solution to optimize internal workflows at Printworld. Our project manager Philipp Galland rightly describes the back office as a 'digital mastermind for employees'. It can be used to manage customer orders, control printing machines, and even automatically feed print jobs into production. But that's far from all, as many other work steps had to be digitally mapped and optimized. Starting from order acceptance, communication with the customer, print data check to handing over the finished products to the shipping service provider DHL and finally delivering them to the customer. For this purpose, we have created numerous functions and interfaces to third-party applications in the system, such as for order entry, print data check, payment processing, and shipping control with DHL and UPS. In addition to these functions, the back office naturally also provides the necessary prerequisites for employees to be able to conveniently maintain and manage products, prices, production parameters, and resources.
