Fresh wind for the website
The wind farm developer VSB from Dresden stands for renewable energies in Germany and at numerous locations in Europe. Since 2016, we have been supporting VSB with the corporate website as well as six country-specific pages, and finally implemented a complete redesign in 2023. Today, the company has a web presence with a memorable design and noticeably improved user experience.
The goal
For the project, the screen design should be updated according to current design principles, without changing the brand image too much. Additionally, there were some usability issues to address.
As VSB becomes increasingly international, visitors should also be able to more easily access the desired country-specific page in the future.
In addition to these visual and haptic improvements on the surface, there were also numerous requests for optimizations in the backend of the Content Management System, such as more flexibility in content editing.

Our solution
Modern design & smart redirection
Following the vision of our client, we have further developed the design to convey the brand message more memorably while maintaining the recognition value of VSB. The ratio of images, text, and white space gives these elements more space overall, improving the user experience. Manual navigation to the country pages has been replaced by voice recognition. From now on, the language set in the browser will be detected, and visitors will be redirected to the corresponding country website. After standardizing the layout of the country pages in the past, this was the next step in adapting VSB's web presence to the increasing international interest. As for editorial effort, we have further reduced this. In addition to the reference database we implemented earlier, which facilitates the maintenance and publication of references, there is now a simplification in content capture. In the future, fewer page types will be required, with the distinction primarily made through different content elements. This will make editorial work more flexible and no longer dependent on rigid templates.
The result
Room for growth
The new design gives more space to the messages and content of VSB to have an impact on visitors, not only leaving a sustainable impression but also making it more intuitive and easier to handle by reducing the number of page types and using specific content elements. With the implemented speech recognition, VSB's website now has a functional component for adding more country pages due to the growth in other European countries.
