One year ago, we at webit! started organizing a regular Ruby meetup in Dresden. Our goal was to connect developers in the region and foster professional exchange. Under the name Dresden.rb, we revived the idea of a Dresden-based Ruby User Group and gave it new life. Aifinyo joined as a co-host and has actively supported the format ever since. The first Dresden.rb meetup took place in November 2024. Since then, we’ve held five events, each with 15 to 20 participants. A steadily growing community now comes together regularly to hear talks, share experiences, and stay engaged with the Ruby stack.

More than 15,000 visitors, 16 stages in three exhibition halls, and nearly 500 talks on all topics currently of interest to developers - such an event deserves the name WeAreDevelopers World Congress and of course webit! must not be missing there. The TYPO3 Surfcamp is a special event for the 'TYPO3 next generation', where young people with different IT backgrounds from all over Europe come together to make new contacts and write code for TYPO3 together - but not in any conference location, but in the surfing paradise Fuerteventura. Because the name says it all: Not only code is created under the open sky at the camp, but the participants also receive surfing lessons on the waves of the Atlantic. We sent the two webits Yasmin and Florian to the island and summarized their impressions in this recap.
